2013 Foggy Bottom Reserve Pinot Noir

90 POINTS - Wine Enthusiast

GOLD MEDAL, 90 Points - 2017 World Wine Championships

At the lowest, coolest part of the Hidden Vineyard, often shrouded in morning fog is our tiny Pinot Noir block. The minimally irrigated vines produce only miniscule yields. The 2013 harvest gave us just enough fruit to produce only 30 cases of our Reserve Pinot Noir. Enjoy now or save it for a foggy day.

The wine was aged for 20 months in new French oak, racked and bottled unfiltered. Foggy Bottom exhibits the dark fruit flavors and earthy notes that are characteristic of the 777 Pinot Noir clone.

Wine Enthusiast’s Matt Kettmann says: “It’s exciting to see what can be done with Pinot Noir in Paso, a region typically considered too warm for the grape. This bottling shows deep blackberry aromas, turned loam and condensed purple flowers on the nose. The palate continues that dark-fruit theme, but tosses in pepper and clove spice to round out the flavors.”
