2014 The Defector

GOLD MEDAL - 2017 Craft Competition International Awards

Defection is not for the faint of heart. Neither is this massive, bold, fruit-forward zin. This is our first release of The Defector since the award winning 2010 vintage but this time we made a mere 50 cases. If you have an allegiance to other varietals, this powerful character may convince you to switch sides.

GOLD MEDAL - 2017 Craft Competition International Awards

This Estate grown Zinfandel was aged in 50% new French and 50% neutral American oak.

“Bright garnet black color. Baked aromas of raisin, cinnamon spice, Seville orange, cherry liqueur and licorice with a chewy, crisp, dryish medium-to-full body. Peppery with a compelling, medium-long sweet black tea, black raspberry sauce, balsamic vinegar, and honey and green peppercorn finish. Well-integrated, chewy tannins and a suggestion of oak. A mature and full zinfandel that will pair nicely with rich foods.” - Tastings.com
