2013 The Assassin

90 POINTS - Wine Enthusiast

BEST OF CLASS - 2016 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

While the Assassin's Cabernet Sauvignon characteristics are prevalent, the Syrah brings additional layers of complexity to the blend. Dense, dark mocha and blackcurrant flavors, punctuated with vanilla and a touch of spice. Bold and robust with a velvety mouth feel and a long, lingering finish.

Wine Enthusiast’s Matt Kettmann says: “Plump black raspberry and blackberry notes mix with vanilla and baked licorice on the fruit-driven nose of this blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Syrah. The tannic tension and strong acidity of the palate overwhelms the flavors at first, eventually revealing dark purple fruit and a vanilla-laced finish.”
